Water
Lelystad has an abundance of water. The Municipality has no less than 17 kilometres of coastline along the Markermeer and IJsselmeer (formerly known as the Zuiderzee). Therefore, there are countless opportunities for both active and passive recreation, on or next to water. For example, Lelystad has no fewer than five marinas with more than three thousands berths. In addition to two small beaches, Lelystad has a well-equipped indoor swimming pool, lots of open water, and a labyrinth of waterways where you can go fishing, surfing, or sailing in peace.
